The Music Therapy Process

  • Schedule a Q&A

If you're new to therapy, you might feel overwhelmed figuring out where and how to start. Our Q&A appointment is an excellent time to assess whether you and your music therapist may be a good "fit." It is a conversation with one primary goal, which is to decide whether you’d like to move forward and schedule an intake. Remember, this meet-and-greet session is only a starting point.

  • Book an Initial Intake

Your intake appointment is the first time you and your music therapist will meet together. The session begins with personal introductions, and we will discuss practical matters such as therapy policies and logistics, too. Next, we will dive into your current concerns, personal history, and desired treatment outcomes. Intake paperwork is completed electronically beforehand via the client portal. Children ages 16 and older may complete their own intake paperwork and be present for their intake appointment.

  • Therapy Session

Individual sessions between the client and our board-certified music therapist allow for personalized attention and tailored interventions to address specific therapeutic goals. Sessions are 45 minutes long and occur in-person or online through our HIPAA-compliant teletherapy platform. Music interventions may include playing instruments, singing, dancing/moving to music, writing songs, listening to music, learning an instrument, and more!
